How to Set a Strong Password and Transaction PIN

Your wallet is only as safe as your password and your transaction PIN. Most account problems start with something easy to guess or something shared with the wrong person. Here is how to do it properly.

Strong password basics

• Make it long. Aim for at least 12 characters. A short password is easier to crack.
• Mix it up. Use letters, numbers and symbols.
• Use a phrase. A few unrelated words joined together, with a number or symbol added, is strong and easier to remember than random letters.
• Use a different password for each important account. If one site is hacked, your other accounts stay safe.

What to avoid

Do not use your name, your phone number, your date of birth or simple patterns like 123456 or the word "password". These are the first things anyone will try.

Transaction PIN rules

A PIN is short, so it needs extra care.

• Avoid 1234, 0000, repeated numbers and your birth year.
• Do not use the last digits of your phone number or your ATM PIN.
• Never write it on your phone, in notes or in a chat.
• Change it if you think someone has seen you type it.

Never share these with anyone
